Discover the potential of graphene and other 2D materials in achieving NET-ZERO emissions and sustainability in composites manufacturing.

This workshop took place on 26 April at JEC World in Paris.

From packaging to pipelines, graphene and other 2D materials have the potential to play a key enabling role in achieving NET-ZERO and sustainability targets in composite applications and their manufacture.

As well as imparting incredibly strong, lightweight and thermal properties, amongst others, for composites manufacture, graphene also enabled the use of waste feedstocks and/or recycled materials, reduced energy consumption, recyclable or recyclable or biodegradable products, as well as driving eco-friendly manufacturing processes.

The Graphene Flagship held a graphene innovation workshop illustrating the possibilities of incorporating graphene and other 2D materials into different industrial products and processes. The workshop presented case studies of how industries have used graphene and other 2D materials in composites and related manufacture.

The workshop took place on 26 April 2023, 15:00-17:00 CEST during JEC World in room 513 (Hall 5) and was followed by a cocktail reception. The event was free and open to all interested industry participants.

The Graphene Flagship Programme is a €1bn European Commission initiative to take graphene from academic laboratories into the marketplace to create economic growth and new opportunities. The project brings together more than 170 academic and industrial partners across 22 European countries to develop commercial applications of graphene and other 2D materials. It aims to drive innovation, create products and train researchers in advanced materials based on graphene and related two-dimensional crystals.
